Arlington National Cemetery Construction, near and around the Air Force Memorial.
 
A portion of VA-244, Columbia Pike, between South Joyce Street and the Virginia Department of Transportation facility located immediately east of S. Oak Street is closed to realign Columbia Pike in preparation for the Arlington National Cemetery Southern Expansion.  Columbia Pike is tentatively scheduled to open in late Fall of 2024.
 
The AF Memorial’s main entrance off of Columbia Pike is closed.  Detour signs will lead you to a temporary access road off of South Gate Road.  The Memorial remains open to the public during its regular hours.  Click here for general information on the construction and traffic patterns around the AF Memorial. 
 
Detour notices posted on the Arlington National Cemetery website are provided to help you plan for site visits to the AF Memorial.  Website banners for current road detours is available on the main page of the Arlington National Cemetery website here.   Additional detour information, is posted under the tab “Expansion” on the main website, here.  Please check this website prior to your trip out to the AF Memorial.
 
The most current detour notice, dated February 8, 2024 is for traffic flow changes at the west end of South Gate Road.  Please visit the Arlington National Cemetery website for the latest information here.
 
Thank you for your patience with the construction around the AF Memorial.  We ask that when you are on site at the Air Force Memorial, please follow the AF Memorial staff guidance on parking and visiting the memorial and please do not intervene in the construction process or disturb construction personnel.
