SB Mission Statement

The mission of AFDW/SB is to maximize contract opportunities for small businesses by providing support throughout the acquisition process (including with market research, solicitation reviews, evaluations and post-award issues), conduct training for government personnel, and counsel small businesses on how to do business with AFDW.

Advise & Assist in Acquisition Planning Advises acquisition teams to ensure acquisition strategies are structured to facilitate small business participation throughout a program’s life cycle via direct participation (prime contracts) or, where such participation is not practicable, through subcontracting.
Develop & Manage the Small Business Program Facilitates small business training and training access for small business professionals, acquisition team members, and industry partners.
Policy, Guidance & Oversight for SB No policy is produced at our level, instead, guidance is being produced via Best Practices and Guidance Memorandum along with an annual AFDW/SB annual program review. Assist SBP Surveillance Review Teams and AFDW/IG with reviews. 
Provides Small Business Outreach, Advice, Reviews, Assistance & Oversight for HAF Procurement & Non-Procurement Transactions Planned or Executed through AFDW/PK Performs small business outreach by coordinating a system for promoting outreach with local, state, regional, and/or national community interest, inclusive of local/state civic leaders, government organizations, members of Congress, and industry (e.g. industry days, matchmaking, etc.). Maintains a public website.
Provides Small Business Review & Coordination Support on Contract Actions Over $10K for HAF & on Other Transaction Agreements for HAF as Provided in DoD Guidance Coordinates with contracting professionals and documents review on the DD Form 2579, Small Business Coordination Record. DD Forms 2579s in excess of $1,000,000 are forwarded to DRU Director of Small Business Programs for review prior to convening an Acquisition Strategy Panel. Supporting documents are reviewed to ensure sufficiency.
