Annual Inspections of By-Law Programs By-Law inspections are nine specific congressionally mandated inspections; AFDW and subordinate units must execute these inspections annually. AFDW due to its MAJCOM like responsibilities must be assessed by AFDW/IG for any specific MAJCOM By-Law components and execute inspections as directed by DAFI 90-302, para 8.5.2.2.1.  Since AFDW provides Intel services for two installations, AFDW/IG must accomplish an in-depth inspection of the intel program and services provided to the installations as a result of the By-Law program.
Commanders Inspection Management Board Meetings

AFDW's equivalent to the CIMB is the Internal Continual Evaluation (ICE). ICE meetings are held quarterly to report the unit self assessment program, internal continual evaluation activities, functional visits, observations, deficiency management, and readiness activities to the AFDW/CC. Externally, AFDW/IG hosts the Semi-Annual Inspection Council where the installation commanders provide status of their progress on MICT/IGEMS observations, deficiency management, AF Special Interest/Emphasis items, by-law status, MAJCOM IG focus areas, and continual evaluation activities to name a few.

Commanders Inspection Program AFDW CCIP assess and improves readiness, efficiency, discipline, effectiveness, compliance, and surety; the heart of the CCIP is Commander's Intent, and the CCIP is a cornerstone of the AF inspection system. AFDW/IG syncs subordinate unit inspection activities with Headquarters AFDW annually, and all activities are captured on a yearly calendar approved by the AFDW/CC annotating readiness, continual evaluation (CE), and by-law inspection activities. AFDW/IG uses the calendar to schedule oversight, CE, onsite activities, and to track by-law inspections to termination.
Complaints Program

IGs assist Airmen and Guardians of all ranks, family members, civilian employees, retirees, and other civilians by acting as the commanders’ eyes and ears to be alert to issues affecting the organization. All IGs must maintain a clear distinction between being an extension of the commander and their duty to serve as fair, impartial, and objective factfinders and problem solvers. IGs must be sufficiently independent so complainants continue requesting IG help, even when they feel the commander may be the problem; commanders must support this clear distinction for their IGs to be effective.

Schedule Continuous Evaluation & Capstone Events AFDW/IG bi-annually executes its Continual Evaluation (CE) program (April/October); AFDW/IG's Pertinent Oversight Authority (POA) team captures the current state of AF mandated Attachment Three programs heavily focused on readiness and enters their assessment into the Attachment Three Assessment Tool (ATAT). AFDW/IG manages its own internal POA program as well as managing external agency CE activities for programs under the control of AFIMSC. The CE communication loop is closed with commanders and installation IGs by providing a data download from ATAT and any additional reports from external agencies as well as the SAIC quarterly meeting. The AFDW CE program is utilized as a snapshot of subordinate unit activities and assists in painting a historical picture of readiness related programs throughout the UEI cycle. AFDW and AMC use the data to assist in building UEI and Readiness Exercise (RE) inspection teams; the robust AFDW CE program all culminates in the UEI/RE capstone events following a 24-36 month cycle.
