JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Maryland -- In observance of National Women’s History Month, celebrated each year during the month of March, Air Force District of Washington salutes the pioneers who paved the way for military and civilian women alike to steer the nation’s course to equality.

The theme for 2019 is “Visionary Women: Champions of Peace and Nonviolence,” and Women’s History Month honors the struggles and achievements of American women throughout the history of the United States. This year’s theme celebrates women who have led efforts to end violence and injustice and stressed the need to restore respect and reduce the causes of conflict as the surest way to peace.
