JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. -- The 1st Helicopter Squadron optimized human resources and aircraft to allow 365 days of continuous contingency response coverage for our nation’s Capital and support for our government’s most senior leaders. The squadron supported the Presidential Inauguration with 18 flights and an innovative forward deployment model which slashed response time by 40 percent, while de-conflicting helicopter operations with a crowd of two million attendees. Fills 100 percent of the Capital’s priority alerts with 50 percents of validated manpower. (U.S. Air Force photo by Michael Pausic).
