AFDW grabs second place at CBRNE challenge
79th Medical Wing Commander Maj. Gen. Gerard Caron, left and Air Force District of Washington Commander Maj. Gen. Darren McDew, right, congratulate the AFDW CBRNE team on earning second place in the Air Force Wide "CBRNE Challenge" held at the Center for National Response in Gallagher W. Va. The Air Force hosts this annual event to ensure that Air Force Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive Response Units maintain full operational capability and foster a sense of professional rivalry between Major Commands. CBRNE Challenge is a full scale training event held at the CNR. The training venue provides the teams with the opportunity to demonstrate how they would respond by using realistic scenarios, live sources and a variety of training environments not available anywhere else. This year there were ten teams competing from every MAJCOM except PACAF.
