Fellow Airmen, this year's Combined Federal Campaign marks a historic milestone as we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the CFC. Incredibly, the charity drive established by President John F. Kennedy has raised nearly $7 billion since 1961 thanks to the generosity of both civilian and military federal employees just like you.

In 2010, the men and women of the Air Force District of Washington helped make a difference by donating $294,824. Our goal this year is to attain $348,500. Since the 2011 season kick off, we have raised $97,000 or about 28 percent of our goal. The campaign runs through Nov. 4 and many people are counting on us!

As unit volunteers provide you the opportunity for consideration, please remember that there are many needs in our nation and the world today. Through the CFC, you can choose from more than 4,000 approved organizations in every interest area. For less than most of us spend on a daily cup of coffee, you can help combat disease, protect our planet, feed the hungry, and even provide for our own military members and families in need.

The CFC allows each of us, in our own way, to make an impact. The decision to donate is completely yours. However, I do hope that you'll choose to make a donation.

Thank you for your service to the world's greatest Air Force and for making a difference in all that you do for AFDW, our Air Force, our joint force, and our great nation.
