Air Force District of Washington's Command Chief Master Sgt. Tommy Mazzone is now on Facebook! Be sure to like his page, "AFDW Command Chief."

Chief Mazzone took over the position as AFDW's Command Chief in April 2016. As the command chief, he is the senior enlisted leader responsible to the commander on matters concerning the welfare, effective utilization, professional development and readiness of AFDW's enlisted Airmen. Due to AFDW's unique mission and global reach, Mazzone's job requires immense reach and constant connectivity.

AFDW headquarters resides on Joint Base Andrews, Md. Also on Joint Base Andrews are AFDW's subordinate units: the 11th Wing, 79th Medical Wing and 844th Communications Group. In addition to these units, AFDW supports approximately 40,000 Air Force military and civilian members of more than 2,000 Air Force elements in more than 500 locations in 108 countries. Mazzone identified a need for a way to reach as many of these Airmen around the globe, and Facebook is one of the many tools we can leverage.

"When I assumed the role as the AFDW Command Chief and realized our command is responsible for not only Airmen on Joint Base Andrews, but also throughout the NCR and around the world, I knew I needed to find a way to stay connected with all of them. Facebook is a great way to reach nearly all of the Airmen assigned to AFDW, check in with them, and let them know what's going on here at our headquarters and amongst their peers," said the chief.

Mazzone will be using Facebook to highlight the great things AFDW Airmen are doing around the world, as well as to pass information about what AFDW leadership is doing to benefit its Airmen.
