There will be less confusion and improved customer service for Air Force District of Washington civilian employees beginning Sept. 25 when the AFDW and 11th Wing civilian personnel offices merge into a single AFDW office.

"Our more than 6,500 Air Force civilians will enjoy increased operating efficiencies and decreased customer confusion regarding who's serviced by whom," said Ms. Ermelinda Rodriguez-Heffner, AFDW/A1 director. "This move is beneficial to all Air Force civilian employees in the National Capital Region."

According to Rodriguez-Heffner, AFDW's A1 staff has been working toward the outcome of a single personnel office for some time. A1 has completed initial union notifications, begun communicating this change to organizational points of contact, and established working groups to execute system changes and set up business and work processes.

Proper alignment of the civilian personnel office staff is being addressed to ensure it effectively supports the Air Force mission.
