Air Force District of Washington Commander Maj. Gen. Sharon K.G. Dunbar congratulated Headquarters AFDW Contracting personnel for recently winning Air Force-level awards March 11, 2013 on Joint Base Andrews, Md.

"I spent 13 years in contracting so I know how hard it is," Dunbar said to the HQ AFDW contracting civilian and military Airmen. "I know what it takes to get that level of recognition."

HQ AFDW Contracting won two Air Force-level awards for fiscal year 2012. The awards include the Air Force Outstanding Contracting Unit (Large) Award and Air Force Outstanding Contracting Officer.

"The reason we won these awards is because we have dedicated, hardworking people who care about the mission," said AFDW Contracting Deputy Director Elizabeth Hair.

Dunbar congratulated the entire HQ AFDW contracting unit for earning the Air Force Outstanding Contracting Unit (Large) Award. She also congratulated Capt. Chase Eiserman for earning the Outstanding Contracting Officer Award in the Company Grade Officer category.

"I have never been more proud of my organization," Eiserman said. "It's great to know the Air Force has recognized the incredible talent and professionalism this group of Airmen embodies."

Dunbar concluded by highlighting the mission impacts of the group's hard work.

"This team has done a lot to achieve this well-deserved Air Force-level recognition," she said. "Your tremendous accomplishments and leading-edge work is saving our Air Force a lot of money."

Additionally, HQ AFDW captured an award in the Force Support category.

Maj. Tom Mulka, HQ AFDW personnel readiness and integration chief, captured top honors as the Air Force's Force Support Field Grade Officer of the Year at the Operational Level.

"The achievements of these men and women represent the high standards of the Airmen working here in AFDW," Dunbar said. "I ask that these Airmen not forget how momentous it is to win these Air Force-level awards."
