Five Headquarters Air Force District of Washington captains were selected for promotion to the rank of major, March 27, 2013, at Joint Base Andrews, Md.

AFDW Commander Maj. Gen. Sharon K. G. Dunbar and Chief Master Sgt. Scott Fuller, AFDW command chief, notified those selected for promotion in their duty locations at the Jones building on base. The company grade officers will become field grade officers during the next year.

"I was surprised and humbled," said Capt. Lewis Benton III, HQ AFDW Logistics. "It truly felt good to celebrate with my AFDW family."

Of the 3,161 captains eligible for promotion across the Air Force, the boards selected 78 percent, according to the Air Force Personnel Command.

"I feel honored that the Air Force is entrusting me with a new level of responsibility," said Capt. Kevin Wong, HQ AFDW Intelligence. "I'm looking forward to managing new challenges."

Among Benton and Wong, other captains selected for promotion to major during the next year are Capt. Chase Eiserman, HQ AFDW Contracting; Capt. Dennis Widner, HQ AFDW Air, Space and Information Operations; and Capt. Brandon Stock, HQ AFDW Contracting.
