79 MDW hosts Assistant Secretary

JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. -- The Honorable Daniel B. Ginsberg, Assistant Secretary of the Air Force, Manpower and Reserve Affairs visited the 79th Medical Wing on April 2, 2013.

The 79th Medical Wing oversees medical care at Air Force bases and worksites across the National Capital Region. Together with Army and Navy partners, the 79 MDW is fully engaged in the planning and delivery of integrated world-class health care.

The 79 MDW is a mission partner on Joint Base Andrews with two subordinate units; the 779th Medical Group on Joint Base Andrews and the 579th Medical Group on Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling.

Air Force medics also work at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, Fort Meade and the Pentagon. The 79th Medical Wing, under the Air Force District of Washington, is a tenant unit on Andrews, and headquartered at Malcolm Grow Medical Clinic.

More than 1,300 Airmen, Air Force civilians, Soldiers and Sailors provide health service support to Joint Base Andrews, primary healthcare to 30,000 enrolled beneficiaries, and specialty healthcare to over 600,000 Department of Defense beneficiaries in the National Capital Region.
