AFDW signs collective bargaining agreement Published May 13, 2022 By AFDW Public Affairs Air Force District of Washington JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. -- The Air Force District of Washington completed the collective bargaining agreement with the American Federation of Government Employees, Local 1092. Major General Joel Jackson, AFDW commander, and Mr. Michael Turpin, AFGE Local 1092, president, signed the agreement May 11, 2022. The American Federation of Government Employees, Local 1092, represents more than 1,600 Air Force appropriated fund employees in the National Capital Region, excluding firefighters and statutory exclusions. The previous contract was signed in 1999, expired in 2005, and has since been used as past practice. After Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling transferred to Air Force management, applicable employees were also included in the unit. Collaboration to identify interests and reach an agreement was reached with union representatives from AFGE national and AFGE Local 1092 and management representatives from headquarters AFDW, the 11th and 316th Wings, the 844th Communications Group, the 459th Air Refueling Wing, SAF/AQ and SAF/AAR. This completed collective bargaining agreement is the first contract between AFDW and AFGE since consolidation of the bargaining unit in 2016. The document will guide labor-management relationships for the next five years.
