Six AFDW personnel were selected for third quarter awards at a luncheon at The Club on Joint Base Andrews-NAF Washington, Md. The awards were presented by AFDW Commander Maj. Gen. Ralph Jodice and AFDW Command Chief Pat Battenberg.

For efficient management of workflow within the Executive Services Office, the recently promoted Staff Sgt. Felicio Flores was awarded the Airman of the quarter award. Non-commissioned officers, Tech Sgt. Tyrone Evans and Master Sgt. Charles Mercurio earned NCO and Senior NCO of the quarter awards, respectively. Ms. Susan Bench-Snow accepted CGO award for the deployed Captain Paul Hauspurg, recognized for his handling of over $2 Million in relocation funds and expertise handling multiple financial analysis programs.

"This is a great opportunity to highlight some of the great work that our Airmen and civilians continue to accomplish on a daily basis," said General Jodice.

Also unveiled during the packed luncheon was the new AFDW chant, submitted by Chief Master Sgt. Israph Mohammed of AFDW A9. Award winners led the meeting with a call that echoed throughout The Club; "AFDW," followed by "Total force, all in!"

Linda Mandell of Protocol and Jennifer Weatherly of Communications earned civilian awards. Ms. Mandell supported two general officer promotion ceremonies, groundbreaking ceremonies for the NCR Relocation Administration building and volunteered throughout the quarter. Ms. Weatherly helped revamp Air Force wide FOIA regulations and restructured AFDW's records management standards and practices, in addition to helping families stay connected during deployment periods.

Tech. Sgt. Jeremy Gilchrist organized and acted as emcee for the awards ceremony, and was lauded by General Jodice for his efforts. "Sgt. Gilchrist has stepped up to the plate for us all and has shown what 'Total Force, All In' really means," said General Jodice.

The award recipients will be vying for base-wide recognition at the Team Andrews award ceremony Friday, Nov. 6 2009.

General Jodice addressed the gathered crowd and reflected on the fact that this was his last quarterly awards ceremony as AFDW commander. "It warms my heart to see the friendly conversations and high morale occuring during this event," said the general. "Keep applying yourselves as you have been and the organization will continue to excel."
