Joint effort supports dignified transfer of U.S. senator
Members of the Joint Service Arrival Team render a final salute after transferring the casket of Sen. John McCain from an 89th Airlift Wing C-32 aircraft to a hearse at Joint Base Andrews, Md., Aug. 30, 2018. DoD personnel are honoring the senator, and retired Navy Captain, by providing ceremonial support to his congressional funeral events. The 89th Airlift Wing provides global Special Air Mission airlift, logistics, aerial port and communications for the president, vice president, cabinet members, combatant commanders and other senior military and elected leaders as tasked by the White House, Air Force chief of staff and Air Mobility Command.
