Doolittle Raider laid to rest
The United States Air Force Honor Guard carries the American flag preceding the ashes of Maj. Gen. David M. Jones during his funeral June 19 at Arlington National Cemetery, Va. The general served more than 40 years in the military, most notably as a member of the Doolittle Raiders and two and a half years as a prisoner of war. He was 94 years old when he passed away of heart failure at his home in Tucson, Ariz. Nov. 25, 2008. His military decorations and awards include the Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross with oak leaf cluster, Air Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal with oak leaf cluster, Purple Heart, Yum Hwei from the Chinese Government, the NASA Exceptional Service Medal with device, and the NASA Distinguished Service Medal.
