9-11 hero headlines AFDW Wingman day
Michael Hurley, who served the City of New York as the Port Authorities’ highest authority on fire and emergency evacuations during the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, presented a slideshow during the Air Force District of Washington's Wingman day on Jan 13, 2009. Wingman day is a chance for Airmen to recognize the coworkers who cover their backs on a day-to-day basis and recommit to being good wingmen themselves. Mr. Hurley has earned medals for his heroism during the 1993 car bombing of the World Trade Center as well as his actions on Sept. 11. He is now site manager for the recovery and reconstruction effort at Ground Zero in New York.
