2012 Military Leadership Award
Capt. Gina Fasciani, a critical care nurse with the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center was selected by the USO for the 2012 Military Leadership Award. During Fasciani’s Afghanistan deployment she was credited with 99 percent survival rate and directly treated 380 trauma patients. “It was a painfully beautiful experience that has both confirmed my passion for what I do as well as defined who I am as a person,” she said. “Nursing is definitely not a glamorous job, but I wouldn’t trade it for any other profession.” (Courtesy photo)
