Blue Crystal formed during ASM AF-sponsored Camp
Janet Fenstermacher, teacher from Yorktown High School, Arlington, Va., holds a crystal during an Air Force-sponsored ASM International Materials Camp at Howard University in Washington, D.C., July 13. At the beginning of the week-long course, Fenstermacher poured a saturated form of copper sulfate into a glass dish and, once seed crystals formed, she tied a thread to the seeds allowing crystals to grow. Fenstermacher is one of 23 teachers who learned how to make science, technology, engineering and math fun for her students. (U.S Air Force photo by 1st Lt. Ashleigh Peck)
