Thorta "Fe" Noble, Air Force District of Washington Staffing/Classification Branch chief, Joint Base Andrews, Md., is an Air Force District of Washington Capital Airman.

Why did you choose to become part of the Air Force family? More than eight years ago I began working for the Air Force and quickly realized that this was a place where my qualifications could make a difference. As a seasoned human resources manager well versed in all aspects in HR management, I feel my current position was made to order just for me. It contains all of the challenges to keep me on my toes. HR is the type of work that allows me to use both my creative and research skills. AFDW offers a nice mix of short- and long-term challenges that allow me to venture outside of my normal civilian personnel arena and exposes more to base-level activities. This is exactly the type of position that I wake every morning anticipating the next challenge and further expand my HR tool kit.

What is your job and how does that impact the AFDW mission? My job is to provide outstanding manpower and personnel oversight and support to the National Capital Region and our worldwide portfolio. My team and I impact the AFDW mission daily by providing quality HR services to attract, develop, motivate and retain a diverse workforce within a supportive work environment. We do this by establishing ourselves as a prime example of "a customer centric organization" focused on timeliness, quality and outstanding customer service. These services help transform us into "Ready Airman, Renowned for Excellence."
