The Combined Federal Campaign opened for donations Oct. 7 through Nov. 15 allowing DOD members the ability to donate to any of 4,400 campaign charities, of which 200 are local organizations.

CFC is the world's largest-annual workplace giving program that National Capital Airmen, Retirees and DOD civilians to can donate to.

"The CFC is more important to those in need now more than ever, especially with our government shutdown," Air Force District of Washington Vice Commander Michael X Gantt said. "We are going through tough times, but there are still good people and organizations out there who could use our help."

The Honorable Chuck Hagel, Secretary of Defense and CFC chair, announced the 2013 CFC goal of the raising $12.5 million this year. Donators may contribute via cash, check or payroll deduction.

In 2012, donators gave more than $61.5 million to the campaign; members of the DOD alone raised $12.5 million.

This year's CFC campaign themed "I make it possible" kicked-off here with a local awareness fun-run opened by Oct. 4.

In the coming weeks, CFC key workers will provide donations information and pledge forms to AFDW, 11th Wing, 79th Medical Wing, 844th Communications Group and Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, D.C., personnel.
