Budget, manning cuts further limit base tax preparation center

JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. --  Due to current budget and manning cuts, the 2014 Joint Base Anderws Tax Center here will no longer be able to offer full-fledged tax preparation services as in years past.  This year, the tax center will operate on a limited basis.

The volunteers at the tax center will serve as advisors to those who want assistance with their tax returns. The advisors will no longer be able to prepare taxes, but will be available to answer any questions that might arise.

The tax center will be located in room 2550 of the Jones Building and will be open every Friday from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. starting Feb. 1, 2014.

In addition to the tax center, there are many resources available to military members and their families.
 
For instance, www.militaryonesource.mil offers a free tax filing service for members of the United States Armed Forces. Additionally, many companies offer free e-filing to the general public for federal returns.
