The Joint Base Andrews First Sergeant Council held an Effective Bullet Writing Seminar July 30th at the William A. Jones III Building. The seminar covered helpful tips and step-by-step instruction to better prepare supervisors to support their Airmen.

"Effective writing is one of the most important skills that NCOs and SNCOs can possess," said Master Sgt. Eric Villafana, 11th Wing First Sergeant. "Effective bullet writing is what ensures that our Airmen's performance is clearly represented. It gets them promoted, awarded, and opens doors for special duties."

The seminar covered various topics, including sources for facts, anatomy of a bullet, enlisted performance reports and awards, leadership and tying accomplishments to operations and common mistakes. The seminar also provided an interactive session for supervisors to implement skills learned and practice writing bullets.

"Deliberate practice involves more than just repetition," said Master Sgt. Andrea Campbell, 11th Security Support Squadron First Sergeant. "Professional development must involve demonstrated expertise in specific strategies in order to grow our future leaders."

The seminar was open for any Airman who wanted to enhance their skills as an effective bullet writer and more training seminars will be offered in the future. For more information, contact the JBA First Sergeant Council.
