Stuart Lemon, Air Force District of Washington Commander's Action Group member, is an AFDW Capital Airman. Lemon, retired from the Air Force in 2005, originally joined the AFDW staff in 2007 as an executive assistant to the commander.

Why did you choose to become part of the Air Force family?
I have family history of military service, including my two older brothers who served in the U.S. Air Force. When I was a senior in high school, I contacted my local recruiter who placed me in the career field of administrative management. My assignments included: working in all facets of the administration management career field, base information transfer center, documentation management, publishing distribution office, master reference library custodian; a documentation security office; an orderly room, and serving as an executive assistant to two former Under Secretaries of the Air Force Carol DiBattiste and Peter Teets. I served in Texas, Louisiana, Hawaii, the United Kingdom and in the National Capital Region.

What is your job and how does that impact the AFDW mission? My primary job involves preparing events hosted by the AFDW commander, such as promotion and retirement ceremonies, speaking engagements, commander's calls and changes of command.

What has been your most memorable or rewarding military or AFDW experience? It would be the preparation and execution of the December 2013 AFDW Capital Airmen Development Seminar and most recently, the 2014 AFDW Commander's Course. It is rewarding to coordinate all the moving parts because you work with a lot of unknowns and see the projects through fruition.
