Master Sgt. Darby Grant, Air Force District of Washington Law Office manager, is an AFDW Capital Airman. Darby joined the Air Force in 1992 and has been part of AFDW since March.

Why did you choose to join the Air Force? My oldest brother was in the Air Force and sat me down when I was 20 and showed me how I was not doing anything with myself and I should join the Air Force to get some direction.

What is your job and how does that impact the AFDW mission? We provide legal support to the AFDW commander and directorates assigned to AFDW.  We act as the major command to the 11th Wing and Fort Meade for any legal support that is referred to a general court-martial as well as process all post-trial processing for general court-martial.

What has been your most memorable or rewarding military experience? My most rewarding military experience is that no matter what base I have gone to, there seems to be a family of co-workers who are willing to accept you into their family.  I have made some very good friends during my 22 years in the Air Force and all of these people are somebody who I am proud to call family.  Every place that I have been has been memorable and it is because of the camaraderie that makes it memorable.
