CFC 2015 Kicks Off Today! Published Oct. 2, 2015 By 1st Lt. Esther Willett Air Force District of Washington JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Maryland -- AFDW members have a unique opportunity to contribute to their favorite charities through the 2015 Combined Federal Campaign which began today and will continue until 15 December 2015. As the world's largest and most successful work-place giving program, the CFC has raised more than $7 billion for charity since the first campaign in 1964, according to the Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capital Area. "This is a great way for federal workers to give back to the community and to so many organizations that do a lot for the community and the nation," said Capt. Frank Cumbie, AFDW CFC coordinator. AFDW's total fundraising goal is $300,000. This will contribute to the Air Force's overall goal of $1.2 million, said Cumbie. Federal workers, retirees and government contractors are eligible to contribute through CFC by making a one-time donation or through a payroll deduction over the course of the year. All donations support eligible non-profit organizations that provide health and human service benefits throughout the world, according to CFCNCA. Contributing to CFC makes a significant improvement in local, national, and international communities, said AFDW Commander Maj. Gen. Darryl Burke. "There are so many organizations that benefit from the giving spirit of today's Airmen. I hope you find a charitable organization worthy of your contribution during this CFC season," Burke said. "Even the smallest donation can make a difference." For a list of available charities and frequently asked questions about the Combined Federal Campaign, visit: www.cfcnca.org.
