Headquarters Air Force District of Washington names Annual Award Winners

BOLLING AFB, D. C. -- Major General Robert L. Smolen, Commander, Air Force District of Washington, hosted the annual headquarters awards banquet on Apr. 24 in the Bolling Clubs.

The winning Airmen and civilians from AFDW headquarters staff , 316th Wing, 11th Wing and the 79th Medical Wing were selected based on their outstanding performance and meritorious contributions during the past year.

"I feel very fortunate because I know personally just about everyone that was either nominated or won, " said Smolen, after presenting the awards. "I am very proud of each and every one of you. Every nominee is a winner. I know how tough it was to decide because I saw the nomination packages. "

The active duty enlisted Airmen who won an award will go on to compete in the 12 Outstanding Airmen of the Year later this year.
