Redskins opening locker room to veterans for free health screenings

In recognition of Veterans Day, the Washington Redskins, GlaxoSmithKline, Men's Health Network, Prostate Cancer Education Council and the American Heart Association are hosting a unique health screening and education event in the Redskins team locker room at FedEx Field to encourage men and women military veterans to be proactive about their health.

The screening is open to all military veterans (men & women), all ages, and will happen Nov. 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Redskins locker room, FedEx Field, Landover, Md.

Participating male and female veterans will have the opportunity to receive a comprehensive series of free health screenings including: cholesterol, diabetes, osteoporosis, blood pressure, osteoporosis, prostate exams, spirometry, body fat, grip strength and patient health educational materials for men and women on various health conditions.

Participants will be able to tour the players locker room as well as get a "players view" of FedEx Field.

Veteran's organizations who are partnering on this event include the American Legion, AMVETS, Disabled American Veterans, Military Officers Association of America, National Association for Black Veterans, Paralyzed Veterans of America Purple Heart Foundation, Veterans of Foreign Wars, VETS Group and Vietnam Veterans of America.
