Bolling Airmen receive CMSAF level awards

Three Airmen from the United States Air Force Honor Guard were recognized with Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force level awards during the 11th Wing Annual Awards Ceremony Feb. 26 at the club on Bolling Air Force Base, Washington, D.C.

"The Air Force's military funeral honors mission is increasing every year," said Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force Rodney J. McKinley. "Even so, our honor guard members shoulder this responsibility proudly and honorably while consistently rendering the utmost dignity, honor and respect for our fallen warriors and their families."

The Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force Annual Honor Guard Awards Program recognizes outstanding professional performances by Air Force enlisted personnel working military funeral honors and ceremonies.

This year's winners are:

Staff Sgt. Kenneth Macomber - CMSAF Ceremonial Guardsman of the Year (Airman Category)
Sergeant Macomber is a ceremonial guardsman in the United States Air Force Honor Guard. A few key accomplishments that led to him winning this award included assuming multiple command roles during 573 Air Force and joint service ceremonies with a 100 percent success rate. He also led 903 Airmen as the NCO in charge of firing party during 129 standard and full honor funerals.

Tech. Sgt. Robert B. Jones - CMSAF Ceremonial Guardsman of the Year (NCO Category)
Sergeant Jones is the drill team NCO in charge of current missions for the United States Air Force Honor Guard. A few key accomplishments leading to his award included orchestrating a 22-day tour along America's West Coast. He also managed 63 transportation requests for 112 drill team missions, saving more than $220,000 in taxpayers money.

Master Sgt. Steven P. West - CMSAF Ceremonial Guardsman of the Year (Senior NCO Category)
Sergeant West is the drill team flight chief for the United States Air Force Honor Guard. He led more than 750 Airmen in 16 full-honors funerals and also orchestrated the scheduling and direction for 714 ceremonies with 100 percent mission success.
