Easter sunrise service to be held at Arlington Published April 1, 2009 By 11th Wing Public Affairs AIR FORCE DISTRICT OF WASHINGTON -- The annual Easter Sunrise Service will be held April 12 in the Memorial Amphitheater at Arlington National Cemetery. Maj. Gen. Richard J. Rowe, Jr., commander of the Joint Force Headquarters-National Capital Region and the U.S. Army Military District of Washington, invites members of the military community, general public and media to attend the joint-service worship. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. A prelude by "The President's Own" United States Marine Band will begin at 6:15 a.m. The non-denominational service will commence with a call to worship at 6:30 a.m. The sermon will be delivered by Chaplain (Maj. Gen.) Douglas L. Carver. An interpreter for the hearing impaired will be present. Free parking will be available in the Arlington National Cemetery Visitors Center parking lot. DOD ID card holder may park at the Fort Myer Old Post Chapel. A free shuttle bus service will begin at 5:30 a.m. from both locations. Come early to avoid delays.
