AFDW/A8 annual award winners announced Published April 24, 2009 AIR FORCE DISTRICT OF WASHINGTON -- Col. Micah Killion, Air Force District of Washington A8, recognized the 2008 Comptroller Annual and Quarterly award winners during a staff call April 20, in Building 1535 on Andrews Air Force Base. Other award recipients also were formally recognized for their years of service and volunteer work in the community. Award nominees were selected on the basis of leadership and job performance in primary duties, significant self-improvement, and base and community involvement. The volunteer awards were based on total number of hours volunteered, specific accomplishments and impact of service, effect of innovative solutions and other considerations. Maj. Gen. Ralph Jodice, AFDW commander, attended the staff call and presented the Meritorious Civilian Award medal to Mr. George Vargas, Ms. Gladys D. Hall and Mr. Johnnie Sowell for their extensive work on Joint Basing initiatives for both Andrews and Bolling Air Force Base. Douglas Adams AFDW/A8 4th Quarter Awards 2008: Civilian of the Quarter Category I, Mr. Phillip Henry Civilian of the Quarter Category III, Ms. Kristine Ruiz Military Volunteer of the Quarter , Tech. Sgt.
