The University of Maryland University College will award 50 $5,000 scholarships to military spouses. Husbands and wives of active duty, reservists, Guard and retirees are eligible for these scholarships.

Recently, UMUC received a $6 million anonymous donation. The school has taken this money and developed a Military Spouse scholarship program.

Recipients are able to use these scholarships over the next three semesters (Summer 2009, Fall 2009 and Spring 2010). Funds can only be used for tuition and tech fees.

There also will be an instant scholarship day on Bolling Air Force Base May 5 and on Andrews AFB May 8, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. where a select few scholarships will be awarded to spouses present.

Those who are interested can RSVP at www.umuc.edu/events/openhouse/openhouse.shtml

For more information and locations for other instant scholarship days, visit www.umuc.edu/militaryspouse or call Ashley Steve, Office of Maryland operations team assistant at (301) 981-3123/7244.
