Air Force financial system delays may impact travel, entitlement pay

The Air Force Financial Services Center's enterprise information management system, called EIM, began experiencing significant downtime May 1, that impacted the way travel and military pay documents are transmitted. The EIM system transfers travel and military pay documents from local Financial Services offices to the AFFSC for processing and payment.

"To lessen the impact to Airmen, contingency plans have been implemented to ensure critical transactions are processed," said Col. Micah Killion, AFDW/A8 director. "Paying our Airmen is our number one priority."

"All AFDW Financial Services offices have been provided a list of priority transactions to transmit through the contingency process," he said, "But Airmen may still experience delays in travel payments that may impact their ability pay their government travel card accounts."

Airmen may also experience delays in payment for some military pay entitlements, such as changes to housing allowance, tax withholding, and family separation allowance, Colonel Killion said. In short, normal pay is not affected---only recent changes may be delayed.

Financial Managers at local finance offices and the AFFSC are ready to expedite services for critical payments, but travelers should closely monitor their government travel card accounts and request additional attention if they are approaching 45 days or more delinquency on their travel card accounts.

Team members from several Air Force organizations and the AFFSC have been working extensively around the clock to stabilize the system. While they are making headway the root cause of the anomaly is not yet determined and there is no estimated "get well" date.
