AFDW Safety and Sports Day taking place May 22

The Air Force District of Washington will being the 101 Critical Days of Summer May 22 with a Safety and Sports Day beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the Andrews Air Force Base, Md., Community Center. 

The Safety and Sports Day is a mandatory formation for all Airmen, civilians and contractors assigned to Headquarters, Air Force District of Washington. 

AFDW Commander Maj. Gen. Ralph Jodice will begin the day with a welcome and safety message, followed by additional speakers and a skit performed by members of the 316th Wing Safety Office. 

Following the events at the Community Center, military and civilians will go to the days' 
designated "alternate work location" in front of Building 1535 for Sports Day. Events and challenges include kick-ball, bolo toss, volleyball, and goofy games. A burger burn will also be held as part of the Safety and Sports Day. 

A-staff and Special Staff representatives will be working to sign people up for the various team sports. Those not wishing to participate in a sporting activity are encouraged cheer on their team mates at the alternate work location. 

Military and civilians not attending the burger burn and Sports Day events must report to their duty stations for a regular work day. Military uniform of the day is PT gear; for civilians, appropriate PT gear is required.
