Headquarters AFDW Quarterly Award winners announced

AFDW Vice Commander Col. Phillip Gibbons announced the fourth quarter award winners at a luncheon held at the Andrews Club. AFDW's enlisted, officers and civilian award winners were cited for everything from designing an engaging PT schedule to contributing to the organizational movement towards green and efficient operations. Airmen recognized for their performance this quarter are:

Staff Airman:
Sheena R. Edwards, Senior Airman
Airman Edwards is a personnel support technician assigned to the Command Support Section. She coordinated AEF bands with the unit deployment manager to accurately update MilPDS and posture over 140 Airmen for contingency deployments. Airman Edwards is actively involved in Airmen against Drunk Driving where she dedicated 20 hours towards building schedules and dispatching drivers.

Staff NCO:
Rica Taylor, Tech. Sgt.
Sgt. Taylor is the NCOIC for executive services and organized the recent switch to Microsoft Vista. Sgt. Taylor partnered with the command records manager to pilot SharePoint information records repository program to migrate electronic records management to SharePoint. This was the first time such record keeping was tested in the Air Force.

Staff Senior NCO:
Douglas B. Adams, Master Sgt.
Sgt. Adams is the military and travel pay chief. Sgt. Adams provided financial service support to 45,000 customers in the NCR. He spearheaded PCS in-processing system in the NCR, which allowed 300 members to file vouchers within hours of arrival. His efforts resulted in a voucher error reduction of 90 percent.

CGO of the Quarter:
Melonie San Pietro, Capt.
Capt. San Pietro is the executive officer for A4/7 and tracks correspondence, awards and decorations for HAF and AFDW with suspenses for a 214 member unit. She built the A4/7 Action Officer guide, which provides direction on AO processes to ensure staff cohesion and mission execution.

Civilian of the Quarter - Cat II and
Civilian Volunteer of the Quarter:

Ms. Charonda L. Boone
Ms. Boone an accounting technician led a team in flawless certification of over 2,200 funding documents and directly executed over $375 million in mission requirements.
Ms. Boone was also recognized this quarter for serving as a Combined Federal Campaign representative and assisting fund raising initiatives for AFDW. She earned both a civilian and a volunteer of the quarter award for efforts at the workplace and in the community.

Civilian of the Quarter - Cat III:
Mr. Kevin D. Sutton
Mr. Sutton a vehicle functional manager recommended several changes to DoD policy affecting military families. He also expeditiously staffed a CSAF request for a class four sedan and followed the contract through to completion. He also volunteers locally, organizing activities for senior citizens and toy drives, ensuring the less fortunate are provided with an enjoyable holiday season.

Military Volunteer of the Quarter:
Jason Myers, Staff Sgt.
Sgt. Myers an accounting operations technician, Sgt. Myers volunteered 44 hours of off duty time to events run by So Others Might Eat and the Special Olympics, as well as helping organize campaigns for A8, the CFC and Airmen against Drunk Drivers.
