Since its inception 40 years ago, Earth Day celebrations have helped citizens become conscious of the Earth's limited natural resources.

"The Air Force District of Washington and its wings are doing their part to support America's long-standing commitment to protecting our environment," said Ms. Aisha Robins, AFDW/A7CO Operations Branch chief.

During the month of April, both Andrews and Bolling Air Force bases provided opportunities for base residents and personnel to participate in Earth Day activities.

Events included clean-up projects at several locations, a recycling display, tree and flower planting, household hazardous waste turn-in, a display of green products, an Earth Day poster contest and educational presentations, and an Earth Day celebration at the Slip Inn on Bolling.
A free Movie: "Tapped" was also presented at the base theater at Andrews. (www.tappedthemovie.com)

For information on year-round Earth Day programs at Bolling call (202) 767-4539.

For information on year-round Earth Day programs at Andrews call (301) 981-2579.

Everyone is encouraged to conserve resources every day, not just on Earth Day.

"This has been a growing focus over the past 40 years, so we're definitely doing something right," said Ms. Robins. "It's never too late to join in."
