Military sexual assault victims in the NCR have toll free number to call Published April 30, 2010 By Aletha Frost AFDW PA Air Force District of Washington -- Sexual assault victims in the NCR now have a toll free number to call 24-hours a day, seven days a week. This directory will link anyone needing assistance with a sexual assault response center in their area. To report a sexual assault incident, call 1-877-316-4689, the Air Force District of Washington Sexual Assault Prevention and Response 24-hour hotline. There are two options for reporting sexual assaults: RESTRICTED REPORTING: One option available to active duty military members and (Title 10) Guard/Reservist affords a sexual assault survivor or victim confidentially in disclosing the details of his or her assault to specified individuals and receive medical treatment and counseling, without triggering the official investigative process. Service members who are sexually assaulted and desire restricted reporting under this policy may only report the assault to the Sexual Assault Response Coordinator SARC, Victim Advocate or a health care provider. UNRESTRICTED REPORTING: Option two is recommended for victims of sexual assault who desire medical treatment, counseling and an official investigation of the crime. When selecting unrestricted reporting, victims should use current reporting channels, such as the chain of command, law enforcement or report the incident to the SARC, or request healthcare providers to notify law enforcement. Upon notification of a reported sexual assault, the SARC will immediately assign a Victim Advocate. At the victim's discretion or request, the healthcare provider shall conduct a sexual assault forensic examination, which may include the collection of evidence. Details regarding the incident will be limited to only those who have a legitimate need to know. Andrews and Bolling Air Force bases, as well as the Fort Meade SAPRP office numbers have been changed.
