Air Force District of Washington employees who excelled during the first quarter were recognized for their achievements during a quarterly awards ceremony May 11, 2010 at The Club on Andrews AFB, Md.

"It's important to recognize the people that work every day to make AFDW a better organization," said AFDW Commander Maj. General Darrell D. Jones. "We also need to thank all of the supervisors who nominated outstanding employees." General Jones presented a crystal trophy to the winners, who posed for photo with the commander.

More than 50 representatives from every AFDW directorate were on hand to cheer and congratulate the winners.

Senior Airman Tiffany Miles, a Knowledge Operations specialist with CCK was cited for her organizational skills and customer service. Airman Miles' supervisor, Master Sgt. Rica Taylor nominated her for Airman of the Quarter because "She is a Can-Do Airman. She's always looking for educational opportunities and is very good at finding ways to better serve the customer."

Staff Sgt. Nicole Johnson of Manpower and Personnel earned NCO of the Quarter for her work guiding servicemembers through the promotion process. "This is a really great job because I get to interact with people who are excited, and moving forward in their careers," said Sergeant Johnson. "I'm very surprised to be getting this award, it was a competitive field!"
Two A/7 employees were awarded for their abilities. Anthony Hill and Master Sgt. Barry Snyder earned Catgeory II Civilian of the Quarter and Senior NCO of the Quarter, respectively. Sergeant Snyder works to ensure that AFDW Staff Airmen have smooth deployments. "The Number 1 concern for Airmen is deployments and operations tempo," said Sergeant Snyder. "I get to work with Airmen to help them transition easily to the deployment phase of their careers."

Brian Klimek of AFDW/JA earned a category III Civilian of the Quarter nod. As Chief of Environmental law and Ethics, Mr. Clement saved the Air Force more than $700,000 by obtaining private property access rights. He also ensured fiscal compliance for the high visibility Air Force Cycling Classic.

Senior Airman Clary Griffin is the AFDW Military Volunteer of the Quarter winner. "I really enjoy volunteering for military causes," said Airman Griffin. "Not only do you get to work with people you know, but you get to see work getting done on the ground, and help better the lives of Airmen." His volunteer experience also includes work with Big Brothers and Big Sisters of America.

AFDW/JA Chief of Adverse Actions, Capt. Christopher Baker earned Company Grade Officer of the Quarter. Captain Baker also serves as President of the Capital Club, a morale boosting organization run by AFDW Airmen.

The second quarter awards luncheon will be held July 10.
