Civilian transition from the National Security Personnel System to the General Schedule occurs July 4, 2010, for all AFDW civilians and those Air Force civilians in the National Capital Region serviced by AFDW/A1C.

Approximately 98 percent of AFDW civilian positions have already been reclassified from NSPS to GS, according to Mr. Ryan Ferrell, AFDW director of Manpower, Personnel and Services. "The data is being previewed at AFPC and incorporated in the Defense Civilian Personnel Data System. The remaining few positions are being corrected for miscellaneous errors or undergoing further evaluation,' he said.

"Our 2,500-plus affected AFDW employees will be given an official letter the week of June 21-25 by their Human Resources liaison with their specific conversion information included," Mr. Ferrell said.

A town hall meeting to discuss the conversion will take place June 21 at 1 p.m. at the Pentagon Auditorium. The town hall will provide general information concerning the transition out of NSPS and into the General Schedule, to include such topics as performance management and reach-back positions.
