Feds Feed Families food drive underway across AFDW

The "Feds Feed Families" Food Drive has started and needs support from all Air Force District of Washington members to be successful.

This year's goal is to collect 1.2 million pounds of food.

Donations collected in the National Capital Region will be given to the Capital Area Food Bank, which serves more than 700 food pantries, soup kitchens, and other charitable organizations in the District of Columbia, Virginia, and Maryland.

Food banks around the NCR and across the country are facing severe shortages of non-perishable items, just as summer leaves more children without school nutrition programs. Federal employees nationwide are asked to step up to meet this challenge by gathering food for families in need this summer.

Look for collection points in common areas around AFDW bases and buildings (Commissary, Base Exchange, headquarters buildings) or set up a collection location within your organization and contact the AFDW program coordinator, Capt. Christopher Baker, at (240) 857-6403 to arrange pick up.
