WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Beginning Sept. 7, Joint Base Andrews telephone users must use different dialing procedures to call around the installation - dialing on base changes from five to seven digits. The 744th Communications Squadron made modifications to the base telephone system to accommodate the influx of new customers.
JBA telephone users currently dial five digits (extension 2, 7 or 6 before a four-digit number) to connect to other customers on base. Starting after the
upgrade, telephone users will need to dial all seven digits (981, 857, or 612 before the four-digit extension) to connect to other customers on base.
Intra-base dialing: 981-XXXX, 612-XXXX, 857-XXXX
Off-base local dialing: 99 (301) XXX-XXXX, 99 (240) XXX-XXXX, 99 (202)
XXX-XXXX and a select 99 (703) XXX-XXXX numbers
Off-base long distance: 97 (XXX) XXX-XXXX (telephone control officers will issue PIN to select users)
91,92,93,94 will remain the same for Defense Switched Network access
This change allows the 744 CS to provide premium support to current and future customers on JBA.
