The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc. conducted an initial accreditation survey of the 779th Medical Group Sept. 19 - 21.

The purpose of the survey was to evaluate the 779th MDG's compliance with AAAHC's standards for ambulatory health care, and to assess whether initial accreditation should be awarded to the 779th MDG. Ambulatory health care organizations seeking accreditation by the AAAHC undergo an exten-sive on-site, peer-based survey of its facilities and services.

The 779th Medical Group voluntarily requested the survey as a means of reviewing MDG's strengths and identifying opportunities to improve MDG's quality health care.

Although Malcolm Grow Medical Clinic has only been a 'clinic' for four days, "This was an important milestone in the continuing success of our military treatment facility," said Col. Rudy Cachuela, 779th MDG commander. "We have an unwavering commitment to providing the highest quality care to our patients, and the same high level of conduct in our business practices."

This was validated in the MTF's May 2011 score of "Outstanding" per AFIA's Health Services In-spection.

"Accreditation by the AAAHC would be further proof of this commitment and signifies that a MTF meets the rigorous standards of a nationally recognized third party," said Cachuela. "After the MDG's inpatient beds closed for BRAC Sept. 15 AAAHC accreditation replaced the MTF's current accredita-tion by the Joint Commission," he noted.

Surveyors' out brief comments were replete with compliments for such programs as the Medical Home (formerly Family Health) initiative.

The AAAHC survey culminates a year of ten inspections for the 779th Medical Group to include The Joint Commission, the Health Services Inspection, College of American Pathologists Accreditation Inspection, the Unit Compliance Inspection and AAAHC.

Over 3,000 ambulatory health care organizations across the United States are accredited by AAAHC. Accreditation underscores a MDG's long-standing dedication to providing the highest possible levels of quality care to the patients it serves.
