AFDW receives Air Force Organizational Excellence Award

Air Force officials recently announced the Headquarters Air Force District of Washington as a recipient of the Air Force Organizational Excellence Award in recognition of outstanding achievement from Jan. 1, 2009, through Dec. 31, 2010.

"This award highlights the very important work that all of you do as a headquarters unit," said Col. Jeffrey Stephenson, AFDW vice commander.

Total Force Airman assigned and attached to AFDW headquarters for even one day during the prescribed period are authorized the award.

All eligible personnel will receive the AFOEA in an automatic records update. Personnel who have since changed stations should check with their military personnel flight to have their records updated individually. The AFDW Civilian Personnel Office will ensure all civilians assigned to AFDW during this period have their MyBiz records updated.

Active-duty members who meet the criteria for the award are authorized to wear the AFOEA ribbon on their uniform immediately.

According to the Air Force Personnel Center, the Secretary of the Air Force first authorized the award in 1969.
