Headquarters Air Force District of Washington gained six new Senior NCOs from the 5,464 technical sergeants selected for promotion May 17.

Air Force Personnel Center officials announced the technical sergeants anticipating promotion to master sergeant during the 11E8 promotion cycle.

"The promotion release was exciting--especially seeing the look of surprise and relief and the faces of our new promotes," said AFDW's Command Chief Master Sgt. Scott Fuller to enlisted members. "Promotion to master sergeant is competitive and challenging. Our master sergeant selects are outstanding NCOs with proven track records and I know they will continue to excel."

There were 19,809 eligible technical sergeants for promotion to master sergeant for a 27.58 percent selection rate, according to Master Sgt. Gisela Hawthorne, from the AFPC Enlisted Promotions Management Branch.

The average score for those selected was 332.85, with an average time in grade of 4.43 years and time in service of 15.58 years. The average score was based on the following point averages: 133.84 for enlisted performance reports, 11.12 for decorations, 69.71 for the promotion fitness exam, 60.42 for the specialty knowledge test, 33.34 for time in service and 33.58 for time in grade, Hawthorne said.

Prior to AFPC's 9 a.m. public release of the list, AFDW senior leadership visited the command's new master sergeants to congratulate them on their achievement.

Fuller said all AFDW senior leaders are proud of the new promotees and their families. "This is a monumental milestone in their careers as they transition to the Top-3--where much more will be expected of them as they lead Airmen through continuing challenges within our Air Force," he said. " I am convinced they are ready for the challenges that they will encounter as leaders in our Air Force."

Promotions will begin according to the promotion sequence number for those selected.

"Selections are tentative until the data verification process is complete, which is no later than 10 days after the promotion release date," Hawthorne said. "Personnel officials will notify Airmen via their military personnel section if their selection is in question."

AFDW's selectees for master sergeant are:
Chyenne Adams, Public Affairs
Matthew Kimbro, Protocol
Reatrina Lewis, Logistics
Monica Powell, Logistics
Stacy Settles, Command Staff executive assistant
