AFDW&You: Meet Tech. Sgt. Trevor Zens Published Oct. 21, 2020 By Air Force District of Washington Public Affairs JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. -- The Air Force District of Washington encompasses more than 30,000 Airmen in 1,758 units stationed at 500 locations in 108 countries. AFDW Airmen execute varied missions around the world alongside service members and civilians from different Air Force major commands, joint units and international organizations. AFDW highlights Airmen in these unique missions in its series, “AFDW and You.” The Airman: Tech. Sgt. Trevor Zens is the Defense Media Activity, Broadcast Production noncommissioned officer in charge at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland. His hometown is Gloucester, Virginia. The mission: My job is to tell the Air Force story by leading a team of nine skilled broadcast journalists. Working for the Defense Media Activity in the Air Force Production section, my team records, documents, and produces radio and television content in support of the Secretary of the Air Force, Air Force Chief of Staff, and the Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force. The highlights: My job always puts me in unique situations, but I would say having the ability to reach the entire Air Force community is something afforded to very few units. Being part of Air Force Production gives me the opportunity to promote key senior leader messages across a multitude of social media platforms, websites and overseas through the American Forces Network stations. The challenges: Working in direct support of the most senior Air Force leadership requires a deep understanding of their priorities. Being able to lead a nine-member team to develop captivating video and radio products on those priorities while meeting strict deadlines, definitely presents challenges. The challenges vary day to day, but we overcome those issues by having open communication and a team focused mindset. The hobbies: Scuba diving.
