More than 200 AFDW Airmen saw a safety briefing and competed in team-building competitions May 22 as part of the command's first "Safety Day."

Safety Day kicked off the "101 Critical Days of Summer," the time frame during which the
Air Force emphasizes safe habits in a period which sees many of them injured during leave time.

The day began with a vehicle safety briefing that emphasized the dangers of racing sports cars and lightweight, high-powered bikes that military personnel often purchase.

The 316th Wing Safety Office's "Not Quite Ready for Prime Time Players" followed up with skits emphasizing hydration and caution when drinking at summer barbecues.

The day culminated in a series of games held in front of AFDW headquarters. The sunny, mild weather coupled with a barbecue made for the perfect atmosphere to run through the gamut of kickball, bolo-ball, a water balloon toss and series of elimination tug-of-wars.
