11th Wing quarterly awards winners announced

The 3rd Quarter 11th Wing award winners were announced Oct. 26 at the Bolling Clubs.
Military and civilian nominees are selected on the basis of leadership and job performance in primary duties, significant self-improvement, and base and community involvement. The volunteer awards are based on total number of hours volunteered, specific accomplishments and impact of service, effect of innovative solutions and other accomplishments. And finally, the team winners are selected based upon contributions of the team as a whole to the mission, and how this has impacted their unit, squadron, group and Air Force.
Airman of the Quarter
Staff Sgt. Corina Cruceanu, 11th Security Forces Squadron, was selected as the Airman of the Quarter. Achievements that contributed to Sergeant Cruceanu winning this award include managing an equipment inventory valued at more than $2 million with 100 percent accountability and receiving an "excellent" rating during a Government Purchase card surveillance audit.
NCO of the Quarter
Staff Sgt. Lakeidra Haygood, 11th Mission Support Squadron, was selected as the NCO of the Quarter. Achievements that contributed to Sergeant Haygood winning this award include executing on-site in-processing at four regional locations for 375 students, saving 50 man-hours and establishing a suspense log to improve Special Duty pay accountability by 45 percent.
Senior NCO of the Quarter
Master Sgt. Steven West, U.S. Air Force Honor Guard, was selected as the Senior NCO of the Quarter. Achievements that contributed to Sergeant West winning this award include organizing a WAT 3 eight member cordon to help induct 74 newly promoted Senior NCOs and spearheading numerous fund raisers to defray Airmen's costs for the Air Force Birthday Ball.
CGO of the Quarter
1st Lt. Joshua Hawkins, USAF Honor Guard, was selected as the Company Grade Officer of the Quarter. Achievements that contributed to Lieutenant Hawkins winning this award include driving an entire summer drill series from concept to completion and was re-selected to run his church's weekly tutoring program leading 10 college tutors and benefiting 30 kindergarten trough 12th grade students.
Cat I, Civilian of the Quarter
Kyle Stewart, 11th Civil Engineer Squadron, was selected as the Civilian of the Quarter Category I. Achievements that contributed to Mr. Stewart winning this award include reconfiguring and integrating 60 percent of all geographic information system software saving $10,000 in information technology installation costs, and completing 61 hours toward an Information Technology Bachelor of Science Degree.
Cat II, Civilian of the Quarter
Wesley Beemer, 11th Contracting Squadron, was selected as the Civilian of the Quarter Category II. Achievements that contributed to Mr. Beemer winning this award include managing $480,000 in construction orders to early completion and volunteering for Freedom Fest 2006, the Hispanic Heritage committee and reading the names of fallen and missing comrades in arms on POW/MIA Recognition Day.
Cat III, Civilian of the Quarter
Princez Walker, 11th Contracting Squadron, was selected as the Civilian of the Quarter Category III. Achievements that contributed to Ms. Walker winning this award include administrating a $2.4 million Pentagon fitness contract enabling detached Bolling personnel access to exercise facilities and donating $700 in clothing and money to District of Columbia homeless shelter and Goodwill Industries.
Military Volunteer of the Quarter
Tech. Sgt. Tedd Baker, U.S. Air Force Band, was selected as the Military Volunteer of the Quarter. Achievements that contributed to Sergeant Baker winning this award include traveling to the Dominican Republic and investing 11 days with more than 130 orphans ranging from infant to 22 years old and actively participating in six fundraising events, raising over $50,000 to fund the teams travel expenses and pay for the orphanage building related costs.
Civilian Volunteer of the Quarter
Mr. Michael Zdobysz, 11th Civil Engineer Squadron, was selected as the Civilian Volunteer of the Quarter. Achievements that contributed to Mr. Zdobysz winning this award include dispatching emergency calls and inspecting safety equipment as a member of the Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department and instructing Boy Scout members of troop 424 in the proper techniques of camping, fishing and hunting.
Team of the Quarter
The Air Force Birthday Ball Committee, 11th Wing Staff, was selected as the Team of the Quarter. The key achievement that contributed to them winning the award was facilitating the first 11th Wing Birthday Ball.
