AFDW announces its 2008 Chaplain Corps award winners

Winners of the 2008 Air Force District of Washington Chaplain Corps annual awards were recently announced by AFDW Commander Maj. Gen. Ralph Jodice.

"All nominees, as well as these exceptional winners, are to be commended for their performance and dedication to duty," said General Jodice. "As front line caregivers at home and deployed, the men and women of the Chaplain Corps serve as agents of hope to our Airmen and their families," he said.

This year's winners are:

     Bolling Air Force Base Chapel - Outstanding Small Chapel Organization Award (Robert Taylor Award)

     Andrews Air Force Base Chapel - Outstanding Medium Chapel Organization Award (Terence Finnegan Award)

     Staff Sgt. Jeffery Bell, Bolling AFB - Outstanding Chaplain Assistant NCO of the Year Award (Charles Meier Award)

     Master Sgt. Christopher Longoria, Andrews AFB -Outstanding Chaplain Assistant Senior NCO of the Year Award (Gerrald Cullins Award)

     Chaplain (Capt.) Andrew Thornley, Andrews AFB - Outstanding Company Grade Chaplain of the Year Award (Edwin Chess Award)

     Sister Mary Rita Smith, Andrews AFB - Outstanding Chaplain Corps Civilian Employee of the Year Award

The winners will go on to represent AFDW at the Air Force competition.
