Financial Managers earn consideration for AF-wide awards

Air Force District of Washington -- Two Air Force District of Washington financial managers have earned recognition for their handling of organizational funds for the fourth largest portfolio in the Air Force. They will be entered into a national awards selection process at the Air Force-wide level.

Civilian comptroller Richard Dillow, AFDW/A8's Chief of Financial Accounting Operations was recognized for his contributions at the MAJCOM level. Airman Michelyn O'Donnell was singled out for her hard work as well, receiving the nod for outstanding contribution to financial management by an enlisted Airman. Both award packages were forwarded to the office of the Secretary of the Air Force's Financial Management division along with nominees from across the Air Force.

"This year's competition was very close with every category decided by just a few points," said Micah Killion, AFDW Director of Programs and Financial Management. Mr. Killion expects a positive outcome for the nominees, explaining, "We're competitive at the national level because we're the fourth largest portfolio in the Air Force and we have employees who execute the mission to the highest standards."

It is expected that SAF Financial Management will reach a decision by early February. "This is certainly an honor," said Mr. Dillow. "I'm very proud of the work we do here at AFDW and the volume we handle."
