AFDW Capital Airman: Shiela Haviland

JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. -- Shiela Haviland, Air Force District of Washington finance directorate web developer, is an Air Force District of Washington Capital Airman. Haviland, an Air Force brat and native of Wiesbaden, Germany, has been associated with the military her entire life.

Why did you choose to join the Air Force family? I was assigned to the Air Force as part of the spousal preference program.

What is your job and how does that impact the AFDW mission? I am a web developer. I study the financial processes then design and develop web applications that will help our financial managers meet the Department of Defense Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness requirements.

What has been your most memorable or rewarding experience working with DOD? My all-time favorite position was when I was an air traffic assistant for Finthen Army Airfield, Germany. My second favorite job is what I'm doing now.
